Janet Marie Thompson (Shultz) Kopp died on Thursday, (October 2, 2008) at her home at 308 Valley View Drive, Staunton, VA.
She was born near Greenville, VA, at Monte Vista on November 6, 1920, the daughter of Carl V. and Ora (Arehart) Thompson.
She was a graduate of Middlebrook High School class of 38 and attended Dunsmore Business College.
She married Sergeant Robert E. (Gene) Shultz on November 11, 1942. He was killed in action while on a bombing raid over Germany on February 20, 1944.
She was employed by the Columbia Gas Company for 16 years until her marriage to the Rev. George P. Kopp on October 13, 1956.
She is survived by her beloved husband and two sisters: Mrs. Evelyn T. Alexander and Mrs. Ora T. Lotts of Raphine, VA as well as several nieces and nephews: William (Bill) Kerr, James (Jim) Kerr, Larry Alexander, Carolyn Alexander, and Linda L. Lunsford.
She was preceded in death by two other sisters: Mrs. Bertha T. Kerr and Mrs. Helen T. Montgomery.
After organ donations so that others may live, her body was cremated by Coffman Funeral Home and Crematory of Staunton, VA. Her family will celebrate her life and passing to eternal life with a private graveside worship service at St. Johns Reformed Church (United Church of Christ) near Middlebrook where she had been a member for 66 years.
