Jane E. Arbaugh

Jane Ellen (Fisher) Arbaugh, 88, widow of Charles W. Arbaugh of 1600 Paige Street, passed away Sunday, May 29, 2011 in Envoy of Staunton.
She was born on January 31, 1923 in Staunton, a daughter of the late Frank Briley Fisher, Sr. and Minnie Bell (Withrow) Fisher.
Mrs. Arbaugh was a member of Marquis Memorial United Methodist Church. She was retired from Belk, the former Leggett Company after 44 years of service as a sales clerk. She enjoyed working crossword puzzles, clipping coupons and tending to her garden.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her first husband, Robert Thomas Shields, a daughter, Susan A. Wilfong and a brother, Frank Briley Fisher, Jr.
Survivors include two sons, Thomas Leon Shields and Robert Edward Shields both of Staunton; a brother, Richard W. Fisher of Churchville; four grandchildren, Thomas Adam Shields, Michael Edward Shields, Teresa Ann Harris and Dennis Michael Wilfong; six great-grandchildren, Matthew Adam Shields, Brynn Marie Shields, Kaitlyn Harris, Matthew Harris, Jason and Heather Wilfong and a number of nieces and nephews also survive.
A Graveside service will be conducted at 11:00 a.m., Thursday, June 2, 2011 in Thornrose Cemetery by Pastor Robert W. Sharp.
The family will receive friends 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, June 1, 2011 in Coffman Funeral Home and Crematory and other times at the residence of her son, Thomas L. Shields, 2303 Davis Street in Staunton.
It is suggested that memorial contributions be made to Staunton Fire and Rescue, 500 North Augusta Street, Attn: Chief Garber, Staunton, VA 24401.
