James Lawrence Wilsher, 93, of 1410 North Augusta Street, passed away Tuesday, November 6, 2012 at Kings Daughters Community Health and Rehabilitation Center.
Mr. Wilsher was born November 26, 1918 in Lynchburg, a son of the late Jesse Lee and Roberta (Casey) Wilsher.
Mr. Wilsher was a graduate of Amherst County High School in Amherst and a member of the Third Presbyterian Church of Staunton. He was a retired stone mason, a member of the Big Valley Coon Hunt Club and later started the Seminole Hunt Club in 1950. He liked to bear and coon hunt, loved farming, growing tomatoes and corn and he trained and traded Jack Russell dogs.
In addition to his parents, James was preceded in death by a daughter, M. Diane Wood and eight brothers and sisters.
Surviving are three sons, Gary Wilsher of Staunton, William Lee Wilsher of Roanoke and J. Larry Wilsher of Las Vegas, NV; seven grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
A Memorial service will be conducted 2:00 p.m. Saturday, November 10, 2012 in Raphine Christian Church in Greenville by Pastor John Ward.
Burial will be private.
