James Dale Weaver, a long-time resident of Mount Sidney, Virginia, died in Shenandoah Nursing Home in Fishersville on September 6, 2016.
Jim was born in Harrisonburg, Virginia on December 10, 1950, a son of the late James W. and Jean L. Weaver.
Jim spent his early years in Weyers Cave, moved to Mount Sidney with his parents when he was seven, and returned to the village soon after his marriage. He started working around trucks when he was 12, and formerly owned Weavers Garage, Inc. in Staunton. He was a past member of Boy Scout Troop 52, graduated from Fort Defiance High School, and loved being outdoors hunting, fishing, riding his motorcycle with friends, and shooting sporting clays. He was once a member of the Augusta Motorcycle Touring Club and the Retreads, and a current member of the Shenandale Gun Club.
He is survived by his wife Wanda, whom he married in 1969; a son, Christopher Weaver and his wife Kelly of Mooresville, NC; a daughter, Jenny Hines and her husband Tazewell of Richmond; three grandchildren, Berkeley Emma Hines of Richmond, Beckett Jameson Hines of Richmond, and Andrew Wallace Weaver of Mooresville, NC; a brother, Steven Weaver and his wife Diana of Mount Sidney; a sister-in-law, Sharon Kluge and her husband Thomas of Winchester; a special aunt like a mother to him, Georgie Long of Keezletown; two aunts, Ruby VanPelt of Coulterville, CA, and JoAnn Slenker of York, PA; his loving mother-in-law, Inez Roadcap of Waynesboro; nieces and nephews, Angela Freeman, Michael Weaver, Brett Kluge, and Lauren Kluge; three great-nephews, one great-niece, and many dear cousins.
A celebration of life service officiated by the Rev. Isaac Harper will be held at Coffman Funeral Home, 230 Frontier Drive, Staunton, VA at 3:00 p.m. on Saturday, September 10 with burial to follow at Augusta Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 2:00 3:00pm prior to the service in the funeral home.
