Strickler

James Frank Strickler, 92, of Harrisonburg, passed away on Sunday, January 12, 2025 at Brookdale of Harrisonburg.
Mr. Strickler was born in Greenville, Virginia on September 17, 1932, a son of the late Daniel Walter Strickler, Sr. and Florence (Hawpe) Strickler.
Mr. Strickler was a dedicated veteran who proudly served in both the United States Army from 1950 to 1954 and the United States Navy from 1954 to 1970. He was a member of West Augusta United Methodist Church and retired in 1997 from Rockingham Poultry, later known as Pilgrim's Pride. Frank was actively involved in several local organizations, including the New Market Eagles, Timberville VFW Post, American Legion, and the Staunton and Timberville Moose Lodges. In May 2008, he received the esteemed Pilgrim Degree of Merit from the Loyal Order of the Moose, the highest honor awarded by the organization. Throughout his life, Frank held various leadership roles and remained deeply involved in these community groups. In addition to his service, he was a passionate and avid bowler.
In addition to his parents, Mr. Strickler was preceded in death by his first wife, Racheal Bridges Strickler, married in 1962 for 15 years; his second wife, Mary Jane Strickler, married in 1984 for 36 years; a son, Steven Lane Bridges; a daughter, Sherrie Marie Ramsey; a step-daughter, Rita Fletcher; siblings, Dwight Calvin Strickler, Dorothy Fultz, D.W. Strickler, Jr., Guy Strickler, Fred Strickler, and Charles Strickler; and a grandson, Justin Dean.
Surviving, are three daughters, Martha Long and her husband, Brent of Broadway, Lorie Miller and her husband, Rob of Harrisonburg, and Karen Baker and her husband, Mike of Rockingham; two step-sons, William Price and Willie Crosby, both of Verona; three step-daughters, Maria Dragulski and her husband, Richard of Texas, Billie Jean Price of Waynesboro, and Ann Dee Smith of Staunton; a brother, Ray Strickler of West Augusta; three grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; thirteen step-grandchildren; a number of step-great-grandchildren; and a number of nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends from 2:00 p.m. until 4:00 p.m. on Friday, January 24, 2025 at Coffman Funeral Home and Crematory.
A celebration of life will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, January 25, 2025 in the Coffman Funeral Home Chapel by Reverend William "Bill" Trice.
Burial will follow in Oaklawn Memory Gardens with military honors.
Active pallbearers will be Manny Propst, Chris Lloyd, Karl Schweigert, John Layman, Steve Schweigert, and Ernest Rea.
It is suggested that those desiring make memorial contributions to Mooseheart, 155 South International Drive, Mooseheart, IL 60539.
Coffman Funeral Home and Crematory, 230 Frontier Drive, Staunton is in charge of his arrangements.
