James Maurice Craft, 87, of Verona, passed away Saturday, December 26, 2020 at Augusta Health in Fishersville.
Mr. Craft was born in Dehue, West Virginia on October 15, 1933, a son of the late Earl Adair and Ruby Gertrude (Biggs) Craft.
He was a retired veteran of the U.S. Army having achieved the rank of Sergeant First Class. He served his country proudly during the Korean and Vietnam Wars. While serving in Korea he was captured and became a POW. During his military career he received the National Defense Medal, the Korean and Vietnam Service Medals, the Army Commendation Medal and the Vietnam Cross of Gallantry Medal.
He also retired from Armstrong Bros. Tool Company.
In addition to his parents, James was preceded in death by a brother, Willard Craft and a sister, Phyllis Walls.
He is survived by two sons, Carlson A. Craft and wife Maria of Waynesboro and Keith G. Ingamells and wife Nanci of Missouri; two sisters, Eva Talbert of Staunton and Ginger Zollman of Briery Branch, and a brother, John N. "Nick" Craft and wife Shirley of Staunton; and two grandchildren, Olivia and Elijah Ingamells. He also leaves behind several nieces and nephews.
A private family graveside service will be conducted in Culpeper National Cemetery on Wednesday, December 30, 2020 by Pastor Jeff Rankin.
