James Michael "Jimmy" Abshire, 73, of Verona, passed away on Friday, May 31, 2024 at his residence.

Mr. Abshire was born in Waynesboro, Virginia on October 16, 1950, a son of the late Emory L. Abshire and Georgia A. (Oscar) Wikel.

Jimmy was a member of Healing Waters Ministry and was employed with Meade Trucking as a truck driver. He enjoyed farming, tinkering with farm equipment, and collecting farm toys.

In addition to his parents, Mr. Abshire was preceded in death by a brother, Edward L. Abshire.

Surviving, is a sister, Vonda (Wikel) Jackson of Phoenix, AZ; two nephews, Jesse Lee Abshire and Eric Dee Abshire.

A celebration of life will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, June 7, 2024 in Coffman Funeral Home Chapel by Pastor Eddie Hooke.

The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service.

Burial will follow in the Union Chapel Cemetery in Weyers Cave, Virginia.

Active pallbearers will be Lacy Houff, Guy Cook, Wess and Logan Bean, Randy Barnes, Daniel Devers, Jayden Hooke, and John Ellinger.

Coffman Funeral Home and Crematory, 230 Frontier Drive in Staunton is assisting with his arrangements.
