James Ezra Jim Whitt, 65, Widower of Dana Lee (Howdyshell) Whitt, of Staunton passed away Saturday, September 3, 2016 at his residence.
Mr. Whitt was born on October 2, 1950 in Tazewell, Virginia, a son of the late Charles Blair and Beatrice (Eastridge) Whitt.
Jim attended the New Covenant Church, and was employed at Augusta County Landfill as an operations employee. He enjoyed collecting items of interest, watching westerns, sitting on the front porch, going to Charlestown Races and spending time with his family.
In addition to his parents and wife he was preceded in death by a brother, Charles Emery Whitt; three brothers-in-law, Clyde Reese, Jerry Howdyshell and Paul Long; and three sisters in-law, Betty Myers, Linda Back and Sandra Botkin.
Surviving are two daughters, Barbara Smith and her husband David of Verona and Dawn Loving of Waynesboro; two sisters, Callie Reese of Greenville and Polly Guffey and her husband Ed of Staunton; a sister-in-law, Beverly Deane of Florida; six grandchildren, Stephanie Woods and her companion Dallas Brooks, Adam Brown and his companion Veata Heater, Ariel Salisbury, Jordan Smith, Brandon Loving, and Raven Loving; eight great-grandchildren, Isaiah, Laraven, Corde, Taleah, Hezekiah, Drayden, Daynaah and Jalayah; four nephews, Jeff Guffey, Steve Guffey and his wife Liz, Gary Reese and his wife Tammie and Donald Reese and his wife Jennifer; and his special pet companion, Little Bit, also survive.
The family will receive friends from 6:00-8:00 p.m. Thursday, September 8, 2016 in the Coffman Funeral Home and Crematory.
A Celebration of life will be conducted 11:00 a.m. Friday, September 9, 2016 in the Coffman Funeral Home Chapel by Pastor Donald Cash.
Burial will follow in Oaklawn Memory Gardens.
Active pallbearers will be Ed L. Guffey, Steve Guffey, Jeff Guffey, Jerry Martin, Gary Reese and Donald Reese.
