James Elmer Jim Rudin, 87, widower of Mary Wallace (Ratcliff) Rudin of 210 Orchard Road passed away Monday, March 14, 2016 in Augusta Health in Fishersville.
Mr. Rudin was born on June 10, 1928 in Stuarts Draft, a son of the late Emil and Odie (Harris) Rudin.
Jim was an active member of Olivet Presbyterian Church where he served as an Elder, Secretary-Treasurer and on numerous other church committees. He was a proud veteran of the United States Army receiving the Silver Star, two Bronze Star Medals and other commendations. Mr. Rudin retired from McQuay in 1994 with twenty-six years of service in production, he was a member of the Staunton VFW Post #2216 and a life-time member of the Staunton Moose Lodge #1635, where he served as Administrator, Treasurer and was a recipient of the Pilgrim Award. Mr. Rudin enjoyed history, antiques, Blue Grass music and gardening.
In addition to his wife and parents, Mr. Rudin was preceded in death by three sisters, Shirley Rudin, Elizabeth Tippy Cornelison and Hazel Bryant; and a brother, Leon Rudin.
Surviving is a son, Michael Nils Rudin and his wife Cindy of Waynesboro; a daughter, Yana A. Kerschke of Staunton; a brother, James Edward Eddie Rudin and his wife Barbara Jean of Hermitage; two sisters, Lillian Vest of Waynesboro and Ruby Landes of Crimora; four grandchildren, Leah Graves and her husband Travis, John Kerschke, Layla Reid and her husband Wil and Karla Clark and her husband Alex,; nine great-grandchildren, Lincoln Graves, Lexi Have, Wilson Reid, Jackson Reid, Ella Reid, Glady Belle Reid, Madison Kincheloe, Hannah Kincheloe and Alexander Clark,; and a number of nieces and nephews also service.
The family will receive friends from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Wednesday, March 16, 2016 in the Coffman Funeral Home and Crematory and other times at the home of Mr. Rudins son and daughter-in-law, 525 Lovers Lane, Waynesboro.
A Celebration of life will be conducted 2:00 p.m. Thursday, March 17, 2016 in Olivet Presbyterian Church by Rev. Lee Thomas.
Burial will follow in Augusta Memorial Park in Waynesboro with military honors provided by Staunton VFW Post #2216.
Active pallbearers will be Thomas W. Wood, David S. Wood, Joseph W. Wood, James E. Shipe, Tommy L. Shipe and Steve West.
Honorary pallbearers will be members of the Staunton VFW Post #2216.
