James Tyree Jim Huffer, 66, of 107 Miller Street passed away Friday, May 3, 2013 at his residence.
Mr. Huffer was born April 22, 1947 in Staunton, a son of the late Tyree N. Huffer and Ann Virginia (Powers) Huffer.
Jim retired from the Virginia Department of Transportation as a road construction inspector after 25 years of service. He was a member of the Verona Moose Lodge, and was a fan of NASCAR, the Washington Redskins, and also U.V.A. Cavaliers.
In addition to his mother of Churchville, Mr. Huffer is survived by three daughters, Virginia Ann Cherri Huffer - Huber and husband Matthew of Ashville, N.C., Jaime Penney and husband James of Weyers Cave, and Melanie Huffer - Hedrick and husband Darrell of Churchville; three brothers, Steve Huffer of Churchville, Rick Huffer of Staunton, and Jerry Huffer of Mount Solon; three grandchildren, Elijah Moreta, Katelyn Penney, and Sophia Penney; and a number of nieces and nephews also survive.
A memorial service will be held at a later date.
Burial will be private.
The family will receive friends at the home of his mother, Mrs. Ann Huffer, 3941 Churchville Avenue, Churchville, at anytime.
Coffman Funeral Home and Crematory, 230 Frontier Drive, Staunton is in charge of his arrangements.
