James Ford "Jim" Dunkum, 79, widower of Bertie Dunkum and Beverly Jean (Michael) Dunkum of Sky Manor Road, passed away Friday, February 5, 2021 at Augusta Health in Fishersville.
Mr. Dunkum was born in North Wilkesboro, North Carolina on August 10, 1941, a son of the late Edward Mitchell and Maggie B. (Wyatt) Dunkum.
James attended Parnassus United Methodist Church, he was a veteran of the United States Army, and retired from VDOT where he was employed as Highway Engineer.
In addition to both of his wives and parents, Mr. Dunkum was preceded in death by a daughter, Casandra Lynn (Dunkum) Rogers.
Surviving is a son, Bucky D. Dunkum of Winston-Salem, North Carolina; a step-son, Shannon Ryder of Parnassas; a grandson, Logan M. Dunkum and his wife Kelli and their children, Maggie and Reagan; a granddaughter, Shauna R. Thompson and her children, Willow, Izzy, Walker, and Trinity; half-brother, Bobby R. Church of Winston-Salem, North Carolina; half-sister, Linda Webster of Salisbury, North Carolina; and a number of nieces and nephews.
Family and friends may pay their respects from 9:00 a.m. until 5:00 p.m. Tuesday, February 9, 2021 in Coffman Funeral Home and Crematory.
A graveside service will held at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, February 10, 2021 in Oaklawn Memory Gardens by Pastor Vicki Barb.
Active pallbearers will be Brent Driver, Shawn Myers, Alston Horn, Nathan Shank, Robert Lawrence, and Steve Sheffer.
