James Howard Buddy Sams, Jr., 60, of 96 Eagle Rock Lane, went to be with our Lord, after battling a long illness, on Monday, January 18, 2016 in Augusta Health in Fishersville.
Mr. Sams was born on August 15, 1955 in Millboro, Virginia, a son of the late James Howard, Sr. and Brownie Lenora (Loan) Sams. James was a proud United States Navy Veteran, serving during the Vietnam War. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, and the outdoors. Buddy was an outgoing person who would always put others first before himself.
In addition to his parents, Mr. Sams was preceded in death by a sister, Wanda (Sams) Kelley.
Surviving are two brothers, Larry Sams and his wife Gina of Harrisonburg and Gregory A. Sams of Staunton; a sister, Janice (Sams) Shannon and her husband Ken of Clarksville; two loving dogs, Tiny and Nash and a number of nieces and nephews also survive.
A Celebration of life will be conducted 11:00 a.m. Thursday, January 21, 2016 in the Coffman Funeral Home Chapel by Pastor John M. Ward.
The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service. Burial will follow in Oaklawn Memory Gardens.
Active pallbearers will be Roger Young, Nathan Young, Danny Hevener, Alfie Wilson, Mike Sams, Russell Palmer and Timothy Hevener.
