James H. Hayes, Jr.

James Henry Jimmy Hayes, Jr., 71, husband of Faith Faye (Shiplett) Hayes of 117 Wayside Drive passed away Tuesday, August 8, 2011 in Augusta Health in Fishersville.
He was born July 20, 1940 in Staunton, a son of the late James Henry Hayes, Sr. and Mary Bell (Toman) Hayes.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a daughter, Cindy Hayes.
Jimmy was the owner and operator of J\u0026P Fencing, he was a member of the Staunton and Verona Moose Lodges and the Staunton Eagles, he was a drummer with the band Jim Hayes and Country Rebels and the Second Time Around. Jimmy was a Redskin fan, a NASCAR race fan, liked playing poker, enjoyed boating and having a Large Time.
Surviving in addition to his wife of five years, are two sons, James H. Hayes, III of Richmond and Dustin Hayes of Corolla, NC; a special niece of whom he raised, Judy Johnson of Leesburg; a step-son, Mike Wimer and his wife Karen of Fishersville; a step-daughter, Terisa Brainard and her husband David of Middletown, CT; two sisters, Betty (Hayes) Berry of the Plaza Apts. and Nancy (Hayes) Whitesell and her husband Tom of Staunton; four step-grandchildren; four step-great grandchildren; a number of nieces and nephews; a special friend and mother of his children, Barbara Hayes and close friend, Glenda K. Dewitt also survive.
A Memorial service honoring Jimmys life will be conducted 11:00 a.m. Thursday, August 11, 2011 in the Coffman Funeral Home Chapel by Pastor Steve Lawhorn.
Burial will be private in Thornrose Cemetery at a later date.
The family will receive friends following the service and other times at his residence.
It is suggested that memorial contributions be made to the Alzheimers Association, 2040 Deyerle Avenue, Suite 102, Harrisonburg, VA 22801.
Coffman Funeral Home and Crematory at 230 Frontier Drive is in charge of his arrangements.
