James Isaac Billy Fridley, 75, husband of Mrs. Elinor Fridley of 88 Esteline Valley Road, Augusta Springs passed away, Tuesday, August 17, 2010 in the McGuire Hospital in Richmond.
Mr. Fridley was born October 9, 1934 in Augusta Springs a son of the late Marshall Floyd and Martha Victoria (Martin) Fridley.
Mr. Fridley was a member of Miller Memorial Baptist Church. He retired from Smiths Transfer in 1986 after twenty years of service, was a member of Teamsters Local #29, a veteran of the U.S. Navy and a member of the Staunton Augusta V.F.W. Post 2216. Billy enjoyed farming, which was his past-time following his retirement, hunting, fishing and mushroom hunting.
Surviving in addition to his wife of 54 years, are two sons, Ricky C. Fridley and Michael E. Fridley and wife Donna D. all of Augusta Springs; two daughters, Penny R. (Fridley) Goff and her fiance Warren Kincaid of West Augusta and Billiejean F. Robertson and her husband Gregory A. of Bassett; one sister, Dorothy F. Propst and her husband Garth of Virginia Beach; eight grandchildren, Candace Fridley, Joshua Goff, Benjamin Michael Fridley, Kenneth Knight, Felicia Marie Corbin, Katherine Victoria Fridley, Luke Aaron Robertson and Hannah Renee Robertson and one great-grandson, Isaac Lee Goff.
A funeral service will be conducted 2:00 p.m. Saturday, August 21, 2010 in Coffman Funeral Home Chapel by Rev. Scott Reese, Tyler Clem and Rev. Kemper Dean.
Burial will follow in Miller Memorial Cemetery in Augusta Springs with graveside rites conducted by the Staunton - Augusta VFW Post # 2216.
The family will receive friends 6-8 p.m. Friday, Augusta 20, 2010 in the funeral home or at other times his residence.
Active pallbearers will be Nathan Propst, Gary Propst, Kenneth Knight, Joshua Goff, Steve Smiley, Harold Bosserman, Jerry Fridley and Bruce Gregory.
Honorary pallbearers will be Russell Flint, Charles Pete Martin, Ronnie McKee, Donnie McKee and Bobby Clark.
Coffman Funeral Home and Crematory, 230 Frontier Drive in Staunton is in charge of his arrangements.
