James Franklin Weaver's Obituary

James Franklin Jimmy Weaver, 80, husband of Karen Ann (Reed) Weaver of Middlebrook Estates passed away Wednesday, May 7, 2014 at the University of Virginia Medical Center in Charlottesville.
Mr. Weaver was born on September 14, 1933 and raised in the family home in Staunton, a son of the late Eugene Franklin and Gladys Priscilla (Cupp) Weaver.
Jimmy was a member of Pleasant View Lutheran Church and was attending Good News Ministry for he had the gift of discernment and loved the Lord. He graduated in 1951 from Wilson Memorial High School and the class remained close over the years and has continued monthly socials. Upon graduation he received a two year football scholarship to Staunton Military Academy. Jimmy was in the United States Navy and was a retired commercial electrician. He raised horses producing over 100 AQHA foals and specialized in cutting horses. Jimmy was an avid hunter of American big game and was a lifetime member of the NRA, and a chartered member of the Golden Eagle.
In addition to his parents, Mr. Weaver was preceded in death by his grandmother, Elizabeth Bessie Graham; and two sisters, Frances Ellen Shuey and Judith Mae Weaver.
Surviving are his wife of thirty-nine years; a brother, Phillip Lee Weaver; four nieces, two nephews; eight great nieces and nephews; and six great-great nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends from 6-8:00 p.m. Friday, May 9, 2014 in the Coffman Funeral Home and Crematory.
A Graveside service will be conducted 3:00 p.m. Saturday, May 10, 2014 in the Pleasant View Cemetery by Pastor Gregory Miller and Rev. Bobbie Knoezer.
Active pallbearers will be Joe Harman, Kenny Knott, Matthew Salyer, Timothy Shipe, Meade Shuey, Danny Shuey, Sammy Shuey, and Thomas Terry.
It is suggested that those desiring make memorial contributions to
the Staunton-Augusta Rescue Squad, Post Office Box 2566, Staunton, VA 24402.
