James Edward Jim Michael, 59, of 362 Shenandoah Mountain Drive passed away on Tuesday, March 2, 2010 at his residence surrounded by his family.
He was born in Augusta County, Virginia on February 8, 1951, a son of the late Clarence Edward and Margie Fawn (Smith) Michael.
Jim was a brick layer for B.R. Hevener Construction Company; he enjoyed the outdoors, drawing and painting, wood working and caring for his Mother for twenty years before her passing.
In addition to his parents, Mr. Michael was preceded in death by his parental grandmother, Janie (Armstrong) Michael; maternal grandmother, Carrie Mama Duck (McManamay) Smith; two brothers-in-law, Talmadge M. Graham and Roy L. Graham and a nephew, T. Asher Garham.
Survivors include a son, Christopher R. Serrett of Craigsville; a
daughter and son-in-law, Carla Rae Beaupre and her husband Michael of Waynesboro; two brothers and a sister-in-law, Lester Don Michael and his wife Pam of Churchville and Edmund Dale Michael of West Augusta; four sisters and two brothers-in-law, Nellie B. Hevener and her husband Bobby of Churchville, Ruby M Graham of Staunton, Beatrice M. Graham of Deerfield and Nancy Lee M. Blackwell and her husband Homer T., Jr. of Waynesboro; four grandchildren, Evan Michael Beaupre, Keith Edward Serrett, Austin Reid Serrett and Kelsie Arlene Serrett; aunt, Leona Babe McCray; two very close and special friends, Rudy and Doris Armstrong of West Augusta who were wonderful neighbors and cared for Jim during his illness. Jim is also survived by a number of nieces and nephews and his special pet dog "Ginger"
All funeral services were private.
