James "Jimmy" Edward Durie, Jr., 52, husband and business partner of Tabitha West Durie, of Verona, passed away on Tuesday, March 14, 2023.

Mr. Durie was born on August 20, 1970 in Hampton, Virginia.

Jimmy was a career driven, third generation roofer and owner of his own roofing company, DHI Roofing, LLC, that he and Tabitha started. Jimmy took pride in being able to solve the most complex and challenging aspects of roofing. Specializing in metals, he took great pride in his completed detailed work, that would bear his company's name. Jimmy always considered himself to be a "Bad-Ass",  but those that knew him best considered him to be kind-hearted, hardworking, and always willing to help those in need. Jimmy was a long-standing member of the Loyal Order of Moose. Jimmy lived an adventurous lifestyle and loved to travel, especially while "catching the wind" on his Harley Soft-tail. Jimmy enjoyed Bald Eagles and watching them soar. Jimmy was a devoted, passionate husband and a caring father.

Jimmy is survived, in addition to his wife, Tabitha, and their furry-buddy, Boots. Jimmy is also survived by an Uncle Bobby, whom he considered a mentor, father figure, as well as a master woodworker. As well as, four children, Amber Durie, James Durie III (Brittany), Ebby Durie (Erica) and Amanda Vasquez (Javier); six grandchildren, Chase, Makenzie, Trenton, Madalynn, Maverick, and Lorenzo; three step-daughters, Erica, Trisha and Alexis Flavin; two step-granddaughters, Trinity and Cataleya; his dear uncle Billy; numerous siblings; aunt, Peggy; and parents, James Edward Durie, Sr. and Linda Gayle (Swisher) Thomas.

Jimmy's company, DHI Roofing, LLC, will continue to operate, carrying on his legacy of quality craftsmanship with his wife, Tabitha and family.

A memorial service and potluck will be held at the Verona Moose Lodge located at 1510 Commerce Rd., Verona, VA on Thursday, March 23, 2023 from 5:00 p.m. until 10:00 p.m.

Coffman Funeral Home and Crematory, 230 Frontier Drive in Staunton is in charge of his arrangements.
