James Irvin Covey, 54, of 182 Valley View Avenue, passed away Sunday, April 12, 2015 in Bridgewater.
Mr. Covey was born December 30, 1960 in Lytle, TX, a son of the late Jesse James Covey,
Jr. and Mary Helen (McKenzie) Covey Duran.
James was employed by Perdue in Bridgewater in the maintenance department and was a veteran of the United States Navy. He enjoyed being outdoors, riding motorcycles and he was a wonderful cook. Mr. Covey enjoyed doing community service work in the area and was known for being a Jack of all Trades.
In addition to his parents, Mr. Covey was preceded in death by a sister, Sharron Villega.
Surviving is a son, Tyler Covey of Chesapeake; a step-son, Christopher Chris Castello of Stuarts Draft; his fiance, Melody Smith of Mt. Sidney and her two children, Victor Pullin and David Fitzgerald; a sister, Minnie Covey of San Antonia, TX; a brother Norman Covey of WA; step-father, Pete Pops Duran of Lytle, TX; special friends, Adonica Miller, Jamie Claytor and Sherry Thompson; and a number of nieces and nephews.
A Memorial service will be conducted at 2:00 p.m. Thursday, April 16, 2015, in Coffman Funeral Home Chapel by Pastor John M. Ward. The family will receive friends following the service.
Coffman Funeral Home and Crematory, 230 Frontier Drive in Staunton is in charge of his arrangements.
