Obituary

James Arthur Jim Clough, Sr., 87, husband of Sharon Elizabeth (Brown) Clough of 953 Donaghe Street, passed away Wednesday, December 14, 2016 in the Kings Daughters Community Health and Rehabilitation Center.

Mr. Clough was born on September 3, 1929 in Clifton Forge, a son of the late Ernest Chase and Ruth (Diamond) Clough.

Jim was a member of Marquis Memorial United Methodist Church and was a proud veteran of the United States Army. He retired from Carrs Tire of Waynesboro and prior to his retirement, he was employed by Hays Chevrolet and Carys International. Jim was a former Cub Scout Leader and a member of the Staunton/Augusta Rescue Squad. He enjoyed spending time and showing his love to his family in so many caring and thoughtful ways.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his first wife, Ann (Lindamood) Clough; a son, James Arthur Jamie Clough, Jr.; and a brother, Richard English Clough.

Mr. Clough was the last surviving member of his immediate family.

Surviving in addition to his wife of forty-nine years, are four daughters, Betty C. Hite and her husband James, Mary C. McDowall and her friend, Andy Barbour, Barbara C. Painter and her husband Keith, and Pamela C. Landes and her husband James, all of Staunton; nine grandchildren, Sean Hite and wife Melinda, Melissa Logue and husband Scott, Kristopher McDowall and husband Dale, Elizabeth Stover, J.J. Stover and wife Elizabeth, Jared West, Kayla Landes, Chase Landes and Savannah Clough; eight great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren; and a number of cousins, nieces and nephews also survive.

A Celebration of Life will be conducted 3:00 p.m. Sunday, December 18, 2016 in the Coffman Funeral Home Chapel by Pastor Robert Sharp and Mr. Rob Shirley. The family will receive friends following the service.

Burial will be private in Thornrose Cemetery.

It is suggested those desiring make memorial contributions to the Marquis Memorial United Methodist Church, 1614 West Beverley Street, Staunton, Virginia 24401.

The family would like to express a sincere Thank You to Kings Daughters Community Health and Rehabilitation Center and the Augusta Health Hospice of the Shenandoah for their compassionate care during Jims illness.
