James R. Carroll
STAUNTON
James Randolph Jr Carroll, Jr., 58 husband of Mary Lou (Peterson) Carroll of 713 Quicks Mill Road passed away Tuesday, November 15, 2011 in Augusta Health.
Mr. Carroll was born on May 14, 1953 in Staunton, a son of James R. Carroll, Sr. and the late Betty (Arehart) Carroll.
Mr. Carroll was a member of Calvary Baptist Church. He was a retired U.S. Army Veteran and also retired from the City of Staunton Water Treatment Plant as a Lab Technician. He was a graduate of Fort Defiance High School class of 1971, was a life member of Staunton Augusta Rescue Squad, an assistant scout master and scout master of the Boy Scouts of America Troop #52. Jim enjoyed time with his family, the outdoors and cooking. Some of his favorite pastimes were hunting, fishing and scouting.
In addition to his father and wife of 35 years, survivors include two sons, Jonathan R. Carroll and Mark A. Carroll and his wife Ashley; a sister, Sharon Wilson and her husband Lewis; step-mother, Margaret Carroll all of Staunton, an uncle, David Bo Carroll and his wife Vicki of Verona and two nieces, Stephanie P. Padrick and Erica J. Peterson.
A memorial service will be conducted 2:00 p.m. Friday, November 18, 2011 in Calvary Baptist Church by Rev. Randy Spencer and Pastor Bobby Campbell.
The family will receive friends prior to the service from 12 noon to 2:00 p.m. in the church.
It is suggested that memorial contributions be made to Boy Scouts of America Troop 52, PO Box 254, Mt. Sidney, VA 24467 or to S.A.R.S., PO Box 2566, Staunton, VA 24402.
The family would like to thank the doctors and staff at the HOPE Cancer Center and Augusta Health for their care and concern during his illness.
