James Henry Campbell, 81, widower of Fannie Virginia (Grogg) Campbell of 1881 Hewitt Road, passed away Saturday, July 14, 2018 in Augusta County.
Mr. Campbell was born on March 3, 1937 in Rockbridge County, a son of the late Tate Wilson, Sr. and Mary Elizabeth (Kennedy) Campbell.
James Henry was retired from Wilson Tree Company as a crew supervisor, he enjoyed the outdoors, hunting, fishing, and whittling. "Mr. Campbell was known as a man with a very strong work ethic."
In addition to his parents and his wife, Mr. Campbell was preceded in death by three brothers, Charles Campbell, Willard Campbell, and Wilson Campbell; and a sister, Alice Campbell.
Surviving is a son, James H. Kellison and his wife Paula of Swoope; two step-sons, David Kellison of Churchville and Dwight Kellison of Swoope; two step-daughters, Virginia Knight of Staunton and Loretta Strickler of Swoope; three brothers, Raymond Campbell of Staunton, William Campbell of West Augusta, and Tate Campbell, Jr. of Columbus, Ohio; five sisters, Dolly Smith of Buena Vista, Bertie Martin of Augusta Springs, Lummy Martin of Stuarts Draft, Emily Robinson of Columbus, Ohio, and Deloris Armentrout of Swoope; twenty grandchildren; twenty-four great-grandchildren; and a number of nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends from 4:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. Sunday, July 22, 2018 in the Coffman Funeral Home and Crematory.
A Celebration of life will be conducted 11:00 a.m. Monday, July 23, 2018 in the Coffman Funeral Home Chapel by Rev. William "Bill" Trice.
Burial will follow the service in Oaklawn Memory Gardens.
