James K. Brooks

James Kennan Snap Brooks, 74, husband of Josephine S. Brooks of
107 Miller Street passed away Wednesday, December 15, 2010 in Augusta Health in Fishersville.
Mr. Brooks was born July 27, 1936 in Rockbridge County, Virginia, a son of the late McKinley and Mammie (Cash) Brooks.
James was a retired construction builder for Old Colony Homes. Mr. Brooks was a member of the Open Door Church in Waynesboro and he enjoyed carpentry, puzzles and fishing.
Surviving in addition to his wife of fifteen years are three sons, David Brooks of NC, Robert Brooks of Lexington and Dale Brooks of Waynesboro; four daughters, Candy Brooks of Waynesboro, Judy Brown of Deerfield, Kelly Brooks of Staunton and Karen Brooks of TX; a brother, Mac Brooks of Stuarts Draft; three sisters, Ellen Ralston of Verona, Mary Cupp of Crimora and Phyllis Nicely of Verona; seven grandchildren and one great-grandchild; three step-daughters, Rosalie Griffin of Staunton, Elaine Griffin of Churchville and Kathy Hartman of Staunton; his pet dog, Gizmo also survive.
A funeral service will be conducted 5:00 p.m. Saturday, December 18, 2010 in the Coffman Funeral Home and Crematory by Pastor Dennis Bradley.
Burial will be private.
The family will receive friends following the service.
It is suggested that memorial contributions be made to the American Cancer Society, 1920 H Medical Avenue, Harrisonburg, VA 22801.Coffman Funeral Home and Crematory, 230 Frontier Drive in Staunton is in charge of his arrangements.
