Jaap van Groll, 80, husband of Mary-Claire (Watt) van Groll of 21 Spring View Drive passed away on Monday, June 8, 2015 in Augusta Health in Fishersville.
Mr. van Groll was born on August 20, 1934 in Amsterdam, The Netherlands, a son of the late Jan and Cornelia Elizabeth (de Wolff)
van Groll.
Jaap came to the United States in 1958 and began his career that lasted forty years with Goodyear International. He later worked for seven years for the State of Virginia Economic Development Partnership as one of their International Trade Managers. Jaap was a railroad enthusiast and collector; he enjoyed collecting Marklin trains and building model train layouts. He enjoyed reading, wood-working and was a do it yourselfer.
Surviving in addition to his wife of thirty-seven years, are three sons, Alan P. van Groll and his wife Julie of Killeen, TX, Michael J. van Groll of Brandon, FL and William J. van Groll and his wife Havilah of Fairfax; two daughters, Denise A. Britti and her husband John of Atlanta, GA and Mary-Claire Marcey Compton and her husband Art of West Chester, PA; three brothers, Cees van Groll of Toronto, Canada, Theo van Groll of Gordonsville and Frits van Groll of Sydney, Australia; eight grandchildren, Megan, Holly, Corinne, John, Arthur, Victoria, Jonah and Mary-Claire Claire, also survive.
A memorial service will be held at a later date.

Coffman Funeral Home and Crematory, 230 Frontier Drive in Staunton is in charge of his arrangements.
