Ina Jean "Jeanie" (Varner) Martin, 64, wife of Jacob Suter "J.S." Martin, of 1603 Forest Avenue, passed away Sunday, August 5, 2018 in Sentara RMH Medical Center in Harrisonburg.
Mrs. Martin was born on October 2, 1953 in Elkins, West Virginia, a daughter of the late Arthur "Buster" Rexrode and Geneva (Varner) Altizer.
Jeanie attended Mt. Olive Presbyterian Church, she was a member of the Women's Bible Study, and she spent her quiet times reading the Bible. She was self-employed as a caregiver, she enjoyed gardening, canning, and camping. "Mrs. Martin gave unselfishly, always willing to reach out to help others in need."
Surviving in addition to her husband of fifteen years, are three sons, Kevin L. Simmons and his wife Barbi of Mt. Jackson, Clifton F. Simmons of Middlebrook, and Travis Q. Simmons and his wife Holly of Grottoes; a step-son, Jacob P. Martin of Maysville, West Virginia; thirteen grandchildren; two great-grandchildren, and an expected great-grandchild; adopted mother, Mattie Atkins of Charlottesville; mother-in-law, Darleen Martin of Bridgewater; and a brother, Glen M. Altizer, Jr. of Staunton.
The family will receive friends from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Friday, August 10, 2018 in Mt. Olive Presbyterian Church, 9001 Rawley Pike, Hinton, Virginia 22813.
A Celebration of life will be conducted 11:00 a.m. Saturday, August 11, 2018 in the Coffman Funeral Home Chapel by Pastor Stacey Meyerhoeffer.
Burial will follow in Augusta Memorial Park in Waynesboro.
