Illa Mae Judd's Obituary

Illa Mae (Haney) Judd, 98, on December 25, 2020 departed this world to become a true "Christmas Angel".

Illa, also happened to be married on December 25th back in 1938 to Dillard Olen Judd for fifty-two years, until his death on April 27, 1991.

Illa was born on June 18, 1922 in Cookeville, Tennessee to the late Daniel Washington and Mertie Frances Haney.

Mrs. Judd was a devoted wife to her husband and loving Mom to her five sons, whom she cherished. She loved to quilt, bake and prepare homemade meals from scratch. She lived a meager life, but never complained.

In the recent four years, she was "Heartbroken" by the deaths of her brother, Ridley "Mitchell" Haney of Ohio; her oldest son, Lawrence Dean Judd of Moneta, Virginia; and her granddaughter, Allison Judd. The death of Illa's second oldest son, James Mitchell Judd, who was laid to rest in 1946 on his second birthday, was a nightmare which haunted Illa for a great portion of her life. She was also preceded in death by five brothers and five sisters.

Surviving family members include three sons, Jere Judd, and his wife, Mia, Paul Judd, Kenneth Judd and his wife, Arleen; and Dorothy Judd, surviving wife of Lawrence Judd; four grandchildren, Tammy Wisotzkey, Jere Judd (JR), Brian Judd, and Timothy Judd; seven great-grandchildren and two great-great grandchildren.

Family and friends may pay their respects from 12:00 p.m. until 3:00 p.m. Wednesday, December 30, 2020 in Coffman Funeral Home and Crematory, Staunton.

A Graveside service will be held 12:00 p.m. on Thursday, December 31, 2020 at Fairfax Memorial Park in Fairfax, Virginia by Dr. Vinton Williams and Pastor Dallas Slemp.

The family extends their heartfelt appreciation and thanks to the staff of the Shenandoah House and Augusta Health Hospice of the Shenandoah.

In Mrs. Judd's memory her family would like to quote Proverbs 31:28-29: "Her children arise up and call her blessed; her husband also, and he praiseth her. Many women have done excellently, but you surpass them all".

(Due to the COVID-19 Pandemic all current guidelines and restrictions will be followed.)

Coffman Funeral Home and Crematory, 230 Frontier Drive, Staunton, Virginia is in charge of her arrangements.
