Iler Jones (Davis) Armstrong, 91, widow of Louis M. Pappy Armstrong of 975 Buttermilk Spring Road, passed away, Thursday, June 24, 2010 in the Augusta Health in Fishersville.
Mrs. Armstrong was born August 29, 1918 in Greene County, Virginia, a twin daughter of the late George William and Cynthia (Naylor) Davis.
Mrs. Armstrong was a charter member of Faith Lutheran Church and a life member of the Disabled American Veterans Ladies Auxiliary. She retired from Kings Daughters Hospital with twenty years of service in the food service department.
In addition to her parents and her husband to whom she was married to for 68 years Mrs. Armstrong was preceded in death by her step father, the late John D. Brower; a brother and six sisters. She was the last surviving member of her immediate family.
Survivors include a son and daughter-in-law, Ray L. Armstrong and his wife Wanda H. of Staunton; two grandchildren, Troy L. Armstrong and Marcia L. (Armstrong) Orebaugh and her husband Greg; three great-grandchildren, Troy L. Armstrong, II, Katherine Holloway and Stephanie Brown; a special best friend, Catherine Huffer of Mt Solon with whom she traveled and enjoyed eating out with; a number of nieces, nephews and two pet dogs, GiGi and Callie.
A graveside service will be conducted 11:00 a.m. Monday, June 28, 2010 in the Oaklawn Mausoleum \u0026 Memory Gardens by the Rev.Kim Triplett.
