Hoyet Lee Berry, 79, husband of Emma Lou (Fretwell) Berry, of Staunton, Virginia, passed away on Friday, December 24, 2021 at his residence.

Mr. Berry was born in Augusta County, Virginia on January 8, 1942, a son of the late George Cameron Berry and Thelma (Shifflett) Berry.

Mr. Berry was a veteran of the United States Army. Hoyet retired from Staunton Steam and Kroger. His hobbies included golf, collecting antiques and going to yard sales.

In addition to his parents, Mr. Berry was preceded in death by four brothers, Glen Berry, Clayton Berry, Melvin Berry, Sr., and Bobbie Berry and two sisters, Bonnie Berry and Edna Berry.

Surviving, in addition to his wife of 53 years, are three daughters, Diane Burns and husband Michael of Stuarts Draft, Wanda Simmons and husband Lonnie of Staunton, and Belinda Harris and husband Rosco of Stuarts Draft; a brother, David Berry of Augusta Springs; a sister, Mary Edmonds; 7 grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren.

The family will receive friends from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. on Wednesday, December 29, 2021 at Coffman Funeral Home and Crematory.

A Private Graveside Service will be held at Oaklawn Memory Gardens.

The family would like to express a sincere "Thank You" to the staff of Augusta Health Hospice of the Shenandoah.
