Howard Laverne Howie Schutz, Jr., 68, husband of Mary Schutz of 3991 Walkers Creek Road, Middlebrook, passed away Thursday, October 14, 2010 in the University of Virginia Medical Center in Charlottesville.
Mr. Schutz was born February 22, 1942 in Naples, New York, a son of the late Howard L. Schutz, Sr. and Jane Ellen (Powers) Schutz.
Howard was a retired security officer from the Wackenhut Security Agency.
In addition to his parents, Howard was preceded in death by a son, Steven Schutz, Sr. and two brothers, Paul and James Reiff.
Surviving in addition to his wife of Middlebrook; Howard is survived by his mother-in-law Libby Sensabaugh; a brother and sister-in-law, Billy and Elizabeth Irene Adams; a niece, Elizabeth Dawn Adams; two sons, Steven Michael Reiff of Ohio and Jacy Karl Knapp of Staunton; three daughters, Kelsey Schutz of Staunton, Lynda Massey of Mississippi, Jennifer Krauss of New York; two additional brothers, Terry Reiff of Nevada and Robbie Reiff of New York; grandchildren, Steven Leon Schutz, Jr., Gabby Knapp, Jacy Lynn Knapp, Gracie Bella Knapp and numerous other grandchildren and great-grandchildren; his first wife, Kim Schutz and his best friend, Wayman Brock, Sr. also survive.
The family will receive friends from 7 to 9:00 p.m. Tuesday evening,(October19, 2010) in the Walkers Creek Fire House.
