Howard Jackson Rexrode, 84, husband of Charlotte Ann (Chestnut) Rexrode of 139 Riverside Avenue, passed away Tuesday, October 5, 2021 at his residence surrounded by his family.

Mr. Rexrode was born on October 31, 1936 in Monterey, Virginia, a son of the late Joe Clark and Gladys (Eye) Rexrode.

Mr. Rexrode was a member of Verona United Methodist Church and was a veteran of the United States Army. He retired from VDOT in 2001 after 27 years of service as a sign fabricator. Howard was a member of the Staunton - Augusta VFW Post 2216, an avid outdoorsman and enjoyed woodworking. His grandchildren were the love of his life while watching them grow up.

In addition to his parents, Mr. Rexrode was preceded in death by five brothers and four sisters.

Surviving in addition to his wife of sixty-one years, is a son, Tim Rexrode and his wife Robin; a daughter, Teresa (Rexrode) Cook and her husband Mike all of Verona; two grandchildren, Justin Rexrode and his wife Amy and Michael Cook and his wife Amber; two great granddaughters, Emily and Josephine; two sisters, Dorothy Faught of Arizona and Peggy Mauzy and her husband Charles of Staunton; and a number of nieces and nephews also survive.

A Graveside service will be conducted 11:00 a.m., Saturday, October 9, 2021 in Oaklawn Memory Gardens, by Pastor Shawna Hiner.

Coffman Funeral Home and Crematory, 230 Frontier Drive in Staunton is in charge of his arrangements.
