Howard Martin "Bucky" Miller, Sr., 86, widower of Lorraine (Moomau) Miller of Staunton, passed away Monday, December 24, 2018 in Curis at Waynesboro Nursing and Rehabilitation Center.

Mr. Miller was born on December 12, 1932 in Staunton, a son of the late Herman D., Sr. and Virginia (Diehl) Miller.

Bucky was a member of the Greenville United Methodist Church, a veteran of the United States Marines, and retired from the Woodrow Wilson Rehabilitation Center, where he was employed in Facilities as a carpenter. Prior to working at Woodrow Wilson, he was employed with Smith's Transfer for nineteen years. Bucky was a member of the Staunton Elks, Eagles, and Moose Lodge, where he enjoyed dancing. In his earlier years, he played softball and baseball. Bucky loved to laugh, have a good time, and spend time with his grandchildren and family.

In addition to his parents and wife, Mr. Miller was preceded in death by four siblings, Herman "Sonny" Miller, Jr., Imogene Maurio, Barbara Georg, and Patricia Fridley.

Surviving are five children, Howard M. "Marty" Miller, Jr. and his wife Kerri of Fishersville, Kevin Miller of Staunton, Ginger Bodkin and her husband Mike of Stuarts Draft, Venie Miller and Gary Tolley of Staunton, and Lori Oliver and her husband Darryl of Greenville; six grandchildren, Brook Galford, Justin Miller, Kaitlyn Miller, Courtney Oliver, Keegan Oliver, and Chance Chandler; four great-grandchildren; and special friends, Dave Firebaugh, Reggie Slaughter, and A.C. and Juanita Powers.

The family will receive friends from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Friday, December 28, 2018 in the Coffman Funeral Home and Crematory and other times at the home of Howard's daughter, Lori and Darryl Oliver, 192 Holeyscript Lane, Greenville, VA 24440.

A Celebration of life will be conducted 11:00 a.m. Saturday, December 29, 2018 in the Greenville United Methodist Church by Pastor Jim Bollinger and Rev. Dr. Kevin Haynes.

Burial will follow the service in the Greenville United Methodist Cemetery.

Active pallbearers will be Justin Miller, Keegan Oliver, Chance Chandler, Ned Campbell, Rocky Moomau, Ron Shifflett, and Reggie Slaughter.

Coffman Funeral Home and Crematory, 230 Frontier Drive, Staunton, is in charge of his arrangements.
