Homer Franklin Weaver, Jr., 67, of Staunton, passed away Tuesday, July 10, 2018 in Augusta Nursing and Rehab Center in Fishersville.
Mr. Weaver was born on June 16, 1951 in Waynesboro, a son of the late Homer Franklin, Sr. and Lelia (Patrick) Weaver.
Homer was retired from the Department of Corrections with twenty-five years of service as a Correctional Officer working in Craigsville, Staunton, and Fluvanna. Following retirement, he enjoyed working at Sharp Shopper in Waynesboro. He was an avid NASCAR fan who collected Richard Petty memorabilia and loved following the Minnesota Vikings. Homer enjoyed hot rod cars, especially his Plymouth Road Runners. He loved listening to his son Travis play music, watching western movies on television and his latest enjoyment, eating at "Bojangles".
Surviving are two sons, Chris Weaver and wife Christine of Weyers Cave and Travis Weaver and wife Sissy Hutching of Staunton; four grandchildren, Meghan and Allyson Weaver and Braxton and Liam Campbell; five siblings, Wanda Breeden and husband Bobby of Grottoes, Tommy Hughes and wife Thelma of Crimora, Kenny Hughes and wife Lena of Dyke, Frances Smith and husband Smitty of Glen Allen, and Ann Fisher and husband Wayne of Fishersville; and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.
A Memorial service will be conducted 2:00 p.m. Saturday, July 14, 2018 in the Coffman Funeral Home Chapel by Pastor Ricky Diehl.
A private burial will be held in Tinkling Spring Presbyterian Church Cemetery.
