Obituary

Homer Ward Buddy Stinespring, 88, widower of Virginia Mae (Ross)
Stinespring passed away Wednesday, July 20, 2016 in Avante at Waynesboro.
Mr. Stinespring was born on April 16, 1928 in Hot Springs, Virginia, a son of the late Cecil Ward and Janet (Snead) Stinespring.
Buddy was a member of Marquis Memorial United Methodist Church and proudly served his country in the United States Army from 1952 to 1954. Buddy retired as Owner / Operator of Stinespring Gulf Service Station and most recently worked for Kroger where he was employed as the Seafood Manager. Buddy was a member of the American Legion Post # 13, he enjoyed singing in the church choir, was a member of the Rockingham Male Chorus, he enjoyed dirt track racing in the valley for over 20 years where he was famous for his race car #501, and will be remembered as the flagman at Eastside Speedway.
In addition to his wife and parents, Mr. Stinespring was preceded in death by three brothers.
Surviving is a daughter with whom Buddy made his home, Cindy Knapp and her companion Edward Harouff of Greenville; two sisters, Nira Campbell and Nancy Day and her husband Eddie all of Waynesboro; a granddaughter, Tara Rene Knapp; and two great-grandchildren, Breanna and Makenley; a special nephew, Jeff Stinespring; special friends, the McDonalds morning breakfast crew; and a number of nieces and other nephews also survive.
A Celebration of Life will be conducted 2:00 p.m. Saturday, July 30, 2016 in Marquis Memorial United Methodist Church by Rev. J. Wade Munford and Rev. Bob Sharp.
Burial will be private in Augusta Memorial Park.
The family would like to express a special Thank You to the staff at Avante at Waynesboro and to Augusta Health for the love and care given to Buddy during his illness.
