Homer Lee Staton, 78, of 7 Terrell Drive, Rockbridge Baths passed away Thursday, March 31, 2011 at Augusta Health in Fishersville.
Mr. Staton was born August 14, 1932 in Midvale, Virginia, (Rockbridge County) a son of late Mary Frances Staton.
In addition to his mother, Mr. Staton was preceded in death by two brothers, Reuben Staton and Frank L. Staton.
Mr. Staton was a veteran of the United States Army and was retired from Marjon Construction Company where he was a Grade-All operator. He was previously employed by Smiths Transfer as a truck driver and a member of Immanuel Presbyterian Church at Walkers Creek. Mr. Staton enjoyed taking care of and providing for his family and enjoying living life to its fullest. He never met a stranger.
In addition to his beloved Judy Tyree Staton of thirty-five years, he is survived by two sons, Billy Staton and his companion, Lindsay Stutsman; Chad Ruley and his companion, Natalie McCaughrin all of Rockbridge Baths; three daughters, Dianna Ruley Brice and her husband Corrie of Pulaski, VA, Sharon Staton and her companion Dave Covington of Stuarts Draft and Jessica A. Staton and her companion, Willie of Rockbridge Baths; a sister, Ann Heaton of Johnson City, TN; two grandchildren, Victoria and Alexander Brice; a niece, Adele Heaton; and two nephews, William and Thomas Staton. In addition to his immediate family, Mr. Staton is also survived by very close and special family, Ruth Cobb and her family; Rebecca and Bob Lyle and Mildred and Amy Snider.
The family wishes to especially thank Dr. H. Lynn Moore and the staff at Augusta Health for the care given to Mr. Staton during his illness.
All services will be private.
