Hinman Mason Mort Strange, 63, husband of Hazel (Motley) Strange, of 156 Center Avenue, Craigsville, passed away Friday, September 10, 2010 at the University of Virginia Medical Center.

He was born April 11, 1947 in Staunton, Va. to the late Edwin Bruton Strange, III and Edith Norene (Doyle) Strange, who resides in Craigsville.

Mort retired August 2007 from the Augusta Correctional Center after 20 years of service. He graduated from Buffalo Gap High School in 1965. Mort enjoyed hunting, camping and fishing, and was always willing to help someone in need. He was a devoted son, husband, father, grandfather, brother, brother-in-law and uncle.

Mort was survived by his mother, his wife, who he married in February 1971, his daughter SSG Dorothy J. Bundra, 39, of Fort Drum, NY, his daughter Edith Suzanne Lucas, 36, and her husband LTCol Shannon-Mikal Lucas of Hawaii, his son Edwin M. Strange, 33, and his wife Darby H. of Swoope, Va.; nine grandchildren: Jacqueline R. Strange, Joseph M. Bundra, Isabella R. Bundra, Kayleigh Suzanne Lucas, Tristan-Mikal Lucas, Arion Scott Nycum, Hailie Lin Brown, Alexandra Quinn Strange, Mason Dean Strange; his brother, Robin F. Strange of Richmond, Va. and half-sister, Suzanne Marsden of Townsend, MD; his sister-in-law, Grace E. (Motley) DeVenny and her husband Roger of Swoope; two nephews, Samuel L. Cook, II and Matthew A. DeVenny and his wife, Danielle and one niece, Sarah Jo Borgna and her husband Brandon.

The funeral service will be conducted at 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday, Sept. 15, 2010 at Coffman Funeral Home Chapel by Pastor Todd Carey. The burial will be private. The family will receive friends at 156 Center Avenue after the service.

The family will receive friends 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 14, 2010 in Coffman Funeral Home and Crematory and other times at his residence.
