Hester Almond (Bradley) Brooks, 99, widow of Forest Percival Brooks, Sr., formerly of Steeles Tavern, passed away Saturday, August 11, 2018 in Kings Daughters Community Health and Rehab in Staunton.
Mrs. Brooks was born on July 6, 1919 in Augusta County, Virginia, a daughter of the late Eugene and Rena (Anderson) Bradley.
She was a member of Faith Tabernacle Church in Stuarts Draft. She was a housewife and loved her children and her family.
In addition to her parents and husband, Mrs. Brooks was preceded in death by a son, Kenneth Brooks; a son in law, Gerald Cox; a granddaughter, Teresa Cox; five sisters and a brother.
Surviving are two sons, Forest "Bud" Brooks, Jr. and wife Nancy of Raphine and Richard T. Brooks and wife Barbara of Steeles Tavern; a daughter, Rosa Cox of Swoope; seven grandchildren, Debra Seal, Cynthia Armstrong and Michael Roberts, Geraldine Cox and husband Gary Miller, Vickie Smith and husband David, Jefferson Brooks, Brian Brooks and Bruce Brooks and wife Chelsea; nine great-grandchildren; and five great-great grandchildren.
The family will receive friends from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. Tuesday, August 14, 2018 in Coffman Funeral Home and Crematory.
A Celebration of life will be conducted 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, August 15, 2018 in the Coffman Funeral Home Chapel by Pastor Dennis Bradley and Pastor John Ward.
Burial will follow in the Mt. Carmel Presbyterian Church Cemetery.
