Helen Virginia (Sensabaugh) Poole, 83, wife of Claude M. Poole
of 2411 Park Hill Road passed away Tuesday, March 6, 2012 at her residence.
Mrs. Poole was born March 12, 1928 in Augusta County, a daughter of the late Harry and Ressie (Swisher) Sensabaugh.
Helen retired as a seamstress from Genesco in 1988. She attended Brownsburg High School and Immanuel Presbyterian Church in Walkers Creek. She enjoyed going to Smith Mountain Lake, enjoyed traveling to the Smokey Mountains and the beach with her family.
In addition to her parents, Helen was preceded in death by her step-mother, Catherine Sensabaugh and two sisters, Leta Taylor and Beulah VanFossen.
Surviving in addition to her husband of sixty-one years is a special great-nephew, Paul Bird, IV; a special friend, Michael Rexrode of Staunton; and a number of nieces and nephews also survive. Helen and Claude had no children of their own but counted their nieces and nephews as their own.
A funeral service will be conducted at 2:00 p.m. Friday, March 9, 2012 at Coffman Funeral Home Chapel by Pastor Ernest Love.
Burial will follow at Immanuel Presbyterian Church Cemetery.
Active pallbearers will be George Bartley, Hunter Bartley, Michael Rexrode, Buddy Rexrode, Pete Cline and Steve Wimer.
The family will receive friends 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Thursday, March 8, 2012 at Coffman Funeral Home and Crematory and other times at the residence.
It is suggested that memorial contributions be made to the American Cancer Society, 42 Neff Avenue Suite 210, Harrisonburg, VA 22801.
Coffman Funeral Home and Crematory, 230 Frontier Drive in Staunton is in charge of her arrangements.
