Helen Louise (Hostetter) Burke, 94, widow of John Edward Burke, Sr. of 18 Little River Road in Goshen, passed away Saturday, October 22, 2022 at her residence.

Mrs. Burke was born in Rockbridge County, Virginia on August 26, 1928, a daughter of the late William Edward Hostetter, Sr. and Lena Lawrence (Martin) Hostetter.

Mrs. Burke was a member of Goshen Presbyterian Church and was retired from Kool-Dri as a seamstress.  Helen enjoyed quilting, sewing and doing all types of crafts.

In addition to her parents and husband, Mrs. Burke was preceded in death by a grandson, Steven Fridley; a daughter, Dorothy Mae "Dottie" Burke; two brothers, James W. "Buck" Hostetter and William E. Hostetter, Jr.; and a sister, Mildred M. Hostetter.

Survivors include four sons, John E. Burke, Jr. of Staunton, Timothy L. "Tim" Burke, David A. Burke, and William M. Burke all of Goshen; two daughters, Joyce F. Fox and her husband Alvin, Sr. of Covington and Evelyn L. Byram and her husband Donnie of Craigsville; a brother, Andrew T. Hostetter of Staunton; a sister, Gracie "Virginia" Flint of Staunton; eight grandchildren, Gene Bowden and wife Kim, Melinda Clifton and husband Danny, Lynnette Bowden, Renee Ingram and fiancé Michael, Kevin Burke and wife Bonnie, Jason Byram and wife Rhonda, Alvin Fox, Jr. and wife Melinda and Michelle Bogar and husband Travis; seventeen great- grandchildren; ten great-great-grandchildren and a number of nieces and nephews.

The family will receive friends from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Wednesday, October 26, 2022 in the Coffman Funeral Home and Crematory and the residence at other times.

A Celebration of life will be conducted 2:00 p.m. on Thursday, October 27, 2022 in the Coffman Funeral Home Chapel by Rev. Tom Quick and Rev. Claudette Wilcher.

Burial will follow in Goshen Baptist Church Cemetery.

Active pallbearers will be William Burke, Jason Byram, Jonathan Rowe, Kevin Burke, Gene Bowden, Ryan Bowden, Danny Clifton and Tyler Burke.

It is suggested that those desiring make memorial contributions to Rockbridge Area Hospice, 315 Myers Street, Lexington, Virginia 24450.

The family would to express a special "Thank You" to her friend and caregiver, Rosita Montgomery and the Rockbridge Area Hospice.

Coffman Funeral Home and Crematory, 230 Frontier Drive in Staunton is in charge of her arrangements.
