Helen S. Hartsook
STAUNTON:
Helen Mae (Stoner) Hartsook, 84, widow of John Calvin Hartsook, of 95 Hillview Lane passed away, Monday, January 17, 2011 in August Health in Fishersville.
Mrs. Hartsook was born August 22, 1926 in Rockbridge County, a daughter of the late Frank Lyle Stoner and Addie Mae (Mawyer) Stoner Morrison.
Mrs. Hartsook was a member of the Staunton Salvation Army Church where she was a very active member, participating in the Home League and cooking for community events. She attended the Staunton Senior Center and enjoyed playing bingo, fishing and spending time with her family. She especially enjoyed playing Wii bowling.
Survivors include five sons and daughters-in-law; John Robert Bobby Hartsook and wife Susan of Fort White, Florida, Lyle Calvin Hartsook, Sr. and wife Judy of Staunton, George Fields Hartsook and wife Pat of Stuarts Draft, James Franklin Hartsook and wife Jeanette of Fairfield and William Henry Hartsook and wife Robin of Staunton; three daughters and sons-in-law, Bonnie Mae Wright and husband Weldon of Virginia Beach, Betty Lou Howdyshell and her companion Everett Woods of Verona and Lelia Hope Fitzgerald and her husband Mike of Staunton; three sisters, Peggy (Stoner) Martin, Polly (Stoner) Morrison both of Staunton and Patsy (Morrison) Hite of Middlebrook; nineteen grandchildren, thirty-five great grandchildren and two great-great grandchildren; numerous nieces, nephews and cousins also survive.
A Memorial service will be conducted 10:00 a.m. Saturday, January 22, 2011 in Staunton Salvation Army Church by Major Sam Hearne.
The family will receive friends following the service and other times at the home of her daughter and son-in-law, Hope and Mike Fitzgerald, 95 Hillview Lane, Staunton.
It is suggested that memorial contributions be made to Staunton Salvation Army Church, P.O. Box 2412, Staunton, VA 24402.
Coffman Funeral Home and Crematory, 230 Frontier Drive in Staunton is in charge of her arrangements.
