Helen Gay Cauley's Obituary

Helen Gay (Wood) Cauley, 86, widow of Everett Lee Cauley Jr., of 146 Chestnut Avenue, Craigsville, passed away Sunday, September 7, 2014, in Augusta Health, Fishersville.
Mrs. Cauley was born on January 25, 1928, in Clifton Forge, a daughter of the late Russell G. and Madge (Shue) Wood.
Helen was an active member of Craigsville Southern Baptist Church where she had served as secretary for a number of years. Mrs. Cauley was the Town Clerk for the Town of Craigsville for over thirty-two years and previously assisted her husband in the operation of Johnson Fuel \u0026 Supply. She was a member of the Craigsville Volunteer Fire Department Ladies Auxiliary, she enjoyed baking, playing the piano and spending time with her family. Helen was a very caring lady, always wanting to help others in need without recognition.
In addition of her husband and her parents, Mrs. Cauley was preceded in death by two brothers, Russell L. Wood and Robert Bob Wood; and special friend, Carl E. Wilcher.
Mrs. Cauley is survived by a daughter, Sandra C. Jackson of Craigsville; three grandchildren, Tiffany W. Schulz and husband Jason of Concord, CA, Kelly Wilcher and wife Michelle of Craigsville, and Cory W. Hicklin of Staunton; six great-grandchildren, Tyler Wilcher, Ryan Wilcher, Cauley Schulz, Nathan Wilcher, Mia Wilcher, and Savana Hicklin; two brothers, Gerald Wood and wife Betty of Millboro and Thomas Wood and wife Barbara of Newport News; two sisters-in-law, Emma Jean Shanks and her husband Leo of Millboro and Elinor Fridley of Craigsville; and a number of nieces and nephews also survive.
Active pallbearers will be her great-grandsons, Tyler, Ryan, Nathan, and Cauley; and Jason Schulz, John Temple, Fred Sprouse, Kenny Shifflett, Richard Fox, and Steve Carper.
The family will receive friends from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Friday, September 12, 2014, in the Coffman Funeral Home and Crematory and other times at the residence.
A Celebration of life will be conducted at 4:00 p.m. on Saturday, September 13, 2014, in the Craigsville Southern Baptist Church by Rev. Tom Quick.
Burial will follow in the Windy Cove Community Cemetery.
It is suggested those desiring make memorial contributions to Craigsville Southern Baptist Church, 48 East Railroad Avenue, Craigsville, VA 24430.
