Helen Joyce (Burns) Puffenbarger, 92, widow of James W. Puffenbarger of Plaza Drive, Staunton was called home by her Heavenly Father on Monday, January 14, 2019.
Mrs. Puffenbarger was born on March 20, 1926 in Bath County, Virginia a daughter of the late Thomas Hackman and Leta Jones (Folks) Burns.
Helen was a member of Burnsville United Methodist Church and retired from Stanley Furniture. She enjoyed playing bingo and was a graceful and cheerful giver.
In addition to her parents and husband, Mrs. Puffenbarger was preceded in death by a son, Robert "Bobby" Puffenbarger and five siblings, Twila Roberts, Jean Roberts, Rembert Burns, Darrel Burns, and Julian Burns.
Surviving is a daughter, Carol Roberts and her husband Edward Leroy of Staunton; three sons, James W. Puffenbarger Jr. and wife Nancy of Ohio, Edward "Eddie" L. Puffenbarger and his wife Nancy of Staunton, and Richard "Ricky" Puffenbarger and his wife Vickie of Millboro; a loving sister, Edith Jackson of Staunton; ten grandchildren, Georgia "Susie" Roberts, Dale Booth, John Puffenbarger, Jimmy Puffenbarger, Edward Lee Puffenbarger, Jr., Sharon Puffenbarger, Jason Puffenbarger, Serena Marvec, Joyce Puffenbarger, and Richard Puffenbarger, Jr.; and five great-grandchildren. Mrs. Puffenbarger is also survived by her extended "second family" Theresa Frady, Connie Hammer, Nancy Colvin, Betty Lockridge, and a special and loving caregiver, Stacy Birchfield.
A Celebration of life will be conducted 2:00 p.m. Friday, January 18, 2019 in the Coffman Funeral Chapel by Pastors George Etling and Denny Sites. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service.
Burial will follow in Oaklawn Memory Gardens.
Active pallbearers will be John Puffenbarger, James Puffenbarger, Edward "Lee" Puffenbarger, Jr., Richard Puffenbarger, Jr., Zachary Puffenbarger, Anthony Lockridge, and Curtis Lockridge.
Coffman Funeral Home and Crematory, 230 Frontier Drive, Staunton, is in charge of her arrangements.
