Hazel (Crawford) Perry Frye, 93, widow of Charles Frye of 1127 Buttermilk Spring Road passed away Tuesday, March 1, 2016 in Augusta Health in Fishersville.
Mrs. Frye was born on October 2, 1922 in Craigsville, a daughter of the late Addie and Georgianna (Hamilton) Crawford.
Hazel was a member of the Community United Methodist Church where she was a former trustee of the church, choir director and secretary to the Administrative Board. She was a graduate of Marinello School of Beauty in California and was a member of the A.A.R.P. Mrs. Frye retired from Genesco as a seamstress and was an accomplished artist, she enjoyed bowling, dancing and singing.
In addition to her husband and parents, Mrs. Frye was preceded in death by six brothers, Herbert, Eugene, Clarence, Russell, Charles and Johnny Crawford; and four sisters, Ella Mae Crawford, Muriel Davis, Marian Leary and Corrine Kagan.
Surviving are two sons, Charles L. Perry and William P. Perry; two daughters, Brenda P. Fisher and her husband John and Linda H. Cuffee all of Staunton; three sisters, Joan Burrell of Washington, DC, Helen Powell of East Orange, NJ and Georgianna Crawford of Atlanta, GA; fifteen grandchildren; twenty-one great-grandchildren; and a number of nieces and nephews also survive.
A Celebration of life will be conducted 11:00 a.m. Monday, March 7, 2016 in the Community United Methodist Church by Dr. John A. Fisher, Jr.
Burial will follow in Oaklawn Memory Gardens.
The family will receive following the service at the church.
Active pallbearers will be Michael Cuffee, Jr., Luke Fry, Eugene Vaughn, Jr., Shannon Robinson, Jr., Jake Johnson and Lee Ham.
Coffman Funeral Home and Crematory, 230 Frontier Drive, Staunton is in charge of her arrangements.
