Harry Edward Ellinger 76, of 909 Greenville Avenue passed away Saturday, March 9, 2013 at Kings Daughters Community Health and Rehabilitation Center.
Mr. Ellinger was born on September 14, 1936, in Augusta County, a son of the late Harry Spencer and Minnie (Harlow) Ellinger.
Harry attended Linden Heights Baptist Church. In 1951, Harry started his 60 year career in the restaurant business, working at Peggys Lunch. On April 1, 1978 he purchased the business, renaming it Harrys Lunch. Harry was known for his generosity, never to turn one away needing a meal and was supportive to local organizations.
In addition to his parents, Harry was preceded in death by two brothers, William and Garland Ellinger and two sisters, Janet Ellinger and Carolyn Marcum. Harry was also preceded in death by numerous aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews.
He was the last surviving member of his immediate family.
Mr. Ellinger is survived by his aunt, Dot Harlow of Staunton; a sister in-law, Shirley (Wade) Ellinger and her two daughters, that Harry considered as his grandchildren, Becky Ellinger and Glenna King and husband Jeff all of Staunton; an additional sister-in-law, Joyce Ellinger of Staunton; a niece, Janet Rosen and her daughters, Brittany and Megan Stroop and a number of other nieces and nephews also survive.
A Funeral service will be conducted 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, March 12, 2013 in the Coffman Funeral Home Chapel by Pastor Harold W. Pete Campbell.
Burial will follow in Olivet Presbyterian Church Cemetery.
Active pallbearers will be Doug Hupman, Drew Sterrett, Xavier Wilhelmy, Jack Wade, Jake Wade and Jeff King.
At Harrys request honorary pallbearers will be the Virginia State Police, Staunton City Police and officers of the Augusta County Sheriffs Department and the ladies attending his funeral service.
The family will receive friends from 6:00-8:00 p.m. Monday, March 11, 2013 at Coffman Funeral Home and Crematory or other times at Harrys Lunch, during regular business hours, 9:00 a.m. - 3:00 p.m.

Coffman Funeral Home and Crematory, 230 Frontier Drive in Staunton is in charge of his arrangements.
