STAUNTON:

Harriet Ethel (Pearce) Riley, 85 of 15 Plaza Apartment Drive, Staunton passed away Tuesday, (February 3, 2009) in the Augusta Medical Center.

Mrs. Riley was born on July 14, 1923 in Detroit, Michigan, a daughter of the late William Charles and Anna Eliza (Winder) Pearce.
She was a secretary to the judge in the Judicial Court System in Orlando, Fla., worked for the Virginia Forestry Service and most recently at the Verona Food Bank. She enjoyed traveling, spending time with her daughter, friends and eating out. Harriet was a member of Olivet Presbyterian Church.
In addition to her parents, Mrs. Riley was preceded in death by two sisters, Mrs. Anna Ellison and Mrs. Florence Hy.
She is survived by her daughter whom she cherished, Ms. Laurie Ann Riley of Staunton and a grandson, David Matthew Riley of IN.
She is the last surviving member of her immediate family.
At the request of Mrs. Riley, her funeral services were private.
It is suggested those desiring make memorial contribution to St. Jude Childrens Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105 or the SPCA, 33 Archery Lane, Staunton, Va. 24401.
Coffman Funeral Home and Crematory, 230 Frontier Drive Staunton is in charge of her arrangements.
