Harold Edsel Strickler, 89, husband of Maxine (Jones) Strickler of Staunton passed away Wednesday, March 14, 2018 in Augusta Health in Fishersville.
Mr. Strickler was born on June 11, 1928 in Greenville, a son of the late Leonard Sylvester and Thelma Odell (Hawpe) Strickler.
Harold was a proud veteran of the United States Army, and he retired from Westinghouse where he worked as an engineer for thirty-three years. He was a member of the New Hope United Methodist Church, a member of the Staunton-Augusta VFW Post # 2216 and a former member of a motorcycle club. Mr. Strickler was extremely intelligent, enjoyed electronics, traveling, hunting, camping, and boating on the water, and especially enjoyed the special times with his family.
In additions to his parents and his first wife, Mabel Ruth (Black) Strickler, Mr. Strickler was preceded in death by two brothers, Hunter Strickler and Harley Strickler; and a sister, Hazel Brown.
Surviving in addition to his wife of thirty-three years, is a step-son, Terry Strickler of Verona; a step-daughter, Beverley Scottie Linhoss and her husband Mark of Fishersville; four step-grandchildren, Brandon Strickler, Benjamin Strickler and wife Lacey, Bryan Linhoss and fiance Christi McAlister, and Adam Linhoss; a brother, Leonard Strickler, Jr. and wife Bonnie of Mt. Pisgah; several nieces and nephews; and his beloved dog, Abby.
A Graveside service will be conducted 2:00 p.m. Saturday, March 17, 2018 in the Augusta Memorial Park in Waynesboro by Pastor Joe Bryant.
