Harold Vernon Harlow, 87, widower of Louise (Gilmer) Harlow and Lorraine Ruth (Gilbert) Harlow, formerly of Red Oaks Drive, passed away Thursday, September 21, 2017 in the Shenandoah Nursing and Rehabilitation in Fishersville.
Mr. Harlow was born on January 6, 1930 in Augusta Springs, a son of the late Harry Edward and Millie (Miller) Harlow.
Harold was a member of the Marquis Memorial United Methodist Church, a veteran of the United States Air Force, and retired in 1991 with over twenty-six years of service as a Superintendent with the Staunton Public Works. He was a member of the American Legion Post #13 and was an avid hunter, marksman, fisherman, and outdoorsman.
In addition to his two wives and his parents, Mr. Harlow was preceded in death by two brothers, Frank Edward Harlow and Albert Hawkins Harlow; and two sisters, Eloise (Harlow) Via and Irene Alto (Harlow) Trainum.
Mr. Harlow was the last surviving member of his immediate family.
Surviving is a daughter, Lewana (Harlow) Richardson and her husband Gregory Greg of Roanoke; step-daughter, Martha Fitzgerald and her husband Tony of Lakeland, Florida; a grandson, Tine Gregory Richardson; faithful friends, David Clark and Russell Bo Flint, Jr.; and a number of nieces and nephews.
A graveside service will be conducted at 1:00 p.m. Saturday, September 23, 2017 in the Oaklawn Mausoleum and Memory Gardens with a Memorial service to follow at 2:00 p.m. in the Coffman Funeral Home Chapel by Rev. William Bill Trice.
The family will receive friends following the service.
