Obituary

Harold Leroy Dawson, 93, widower of Mary Frances (Ingram) Dawson, of 2503 North Sharlaine Drive, Staunton, passed away on Saturday, July 19, 2026 at Augusta Health in Fishersville.

Mr. Dawson was born in Rochester, Indiana on May 20, 1933 a son of the late Lyman and Marjorie (Conrad) Dawson.

Harold proudly served 20 years in the United States Army, with assignments in Germany, Korea, and Vietnam. His military service reflected his commitment, courage, and sense of duty.

A faithful member of the Church of God, Harold's faith was a guiding force throughout his life. He was known for his kindness, integrity, and willingness to help others whenever he could.

Harold enjoyed keeping his mind active by working crossword puzzles and word searches. He was an avid sports fan who loved following his favorite teams and could often be found watching classic Westerns. A true "jack of all trades," Harold had a knack for fixing things, learning new skills, and lending a helping hand to family, friends, and neighbors.

In addition to his parents and wife of 58 years, he was preceded in death by a son, Douglas Dawson of Staunton; and two brothers, Al Mitchell of Blue Springs, MO, and William Jay Dawson of Rochester, IN.

Surviving are, six children, Steve Ingram and wife Cindy of Staunton, Terry Dawson of Staunton, Rick Dawson and fiancé, Kim Allison of Chillicothe, Ohio, Jack Dawson and wife Shawna of Staunton, Eddy Dawson and wife Hiliana of Waynesboro, and Pam Schuler of North Webster, IN; fifteen grandchildren, Tanya Ingram of Waynesboro, Lisa Ingram of Verona, Steven Ingram of Waynesboro, Travis Dawson of Staunton, Trevor Elphee of Staunton, Michael Dawson of Slidell, LA, Cody Dawson of St. Augustine, FL, and Mason Dawson of Staunton, Desira Watkins of Staunton, Corey Curry of Fort Worth, TX, Damian Curry of Staunton, Fernanda Reto of Waynesboro, Moe Sanchez of Woodbridge, Gabe Allison of Chillicothe, OH, Emily Allison of Chillicothe, OH; eight great-grandchildren, Trey, Sean, Jordan, Tanner, Rafe, Elijah, Asher, and Corinne; and a number of nieces and nephews. Also surviving is a brother, Lyman "Bud" F. Dawson Jr and wife Sue of Warsaw, IN, and a sister, Debbie and husband Dave Swango of Rochester, IN.

Services will be private.

Coffman Funeral Home and Crematory, 230 Frontier Drive in Staunton is in charge of his arrangements.
