Harold Burton Colvin's Obituary

Harold Burton Colvin, 91, widower of June "Mary Virginia" (Grogg) Colvin of Sunset Drive, Waynesboro, passed away Sunday, August 15, 2021 at his residence.

Mr. Colvin was born in Baltimore, Maryland on September 23, 1929, a son of the late Arthur Edgar and Catherine Theda (Puckett) Colvin.

Mr. Colvin was a member of Waynesboro Church of the Brethren where he served on the church board from 2003 until 2009. He retired in 1992 from the Lehigh Portland Cement Plant with 43 years of service and was a veteran of the United States Army. Harold enjoyed watching baseball, he was an avid New York Yankees fan and his favorite past-time was spending time with his family and grandchildren.

In addition to his parents and wife of sixty-five years, Mr. Colvin was preceded in death by two brothers, Daniel Edgar Colvin and Ronald Alvin Colvin.

Surviving is a son, Harold B. Colvin, II and his wife Susan H. of Waynesboro; a brother, Jerry Colvin and his wife Shirley of Waynesboro; three sisters, Shirley Humphreys and her husband Durwood of Staunton, Janet Salmons and Judy Via and her husband Walter both of West Point, Virginia; four grandchildren, Joseph A. Colvin, Matthew A. Colvin and his wife Misty, Derek A. Colvin and his wife Toni, and Jennifer N. Rankin and her husband Derrick; seven great-grandchildren, Anna C. Colvin, Madison C. Colvin, Naomi R. Colvin, Mackenzie M. Colvin, Zachary A. Colvin, Owen T. Rankin and Hudson J. Rankin.

A Celebration of life will be conducted 11:00 a.m., Monday, August 23, 2021 in Coffman Funeral Home Chapel by Pastor Todd Crowder and Pastor Dot Mellott.

Burial will follow in Augusta Memorial Park.

Those desiring may visit the family anytime at the residence of his son and daughter-in-law, Harold and Susan Colvin, 101 Sunset Drive, Waynesboro.

Active pallbearers will be Derek Colvin, Derrick Rankin, Matthew Colvin, Mark Humphreys, Bruce Humphreys, Mike McGinnis, Fred Manzo, and Ricky Lowery.

Honorary pallbearer will be Jerry Deane.

It is suggested those desiring make memorial contributions to the Waynesboro Church of the Brethren, 364 Bridge Avenue, Waynesboro, Virginia 22980 or the University of Virginia Children's Hospital, P.O. Box 800773, Charlottesville, Virginia 22908-0773.
