Hallie Mae (Shifflett) Hite, 70, widow of Samuel A. Hite of 2424 Pine Hill Circle, Staunton, passed away Friday morning, (November 13, 2009) in Augusta Health in Fishersville.
Mrs. Hite was born on August 12, 1939 in Greenville, a daughter of the late Robert Franklin Shifflett, Sr. and Bertha Mae (Tyree) Shifflett.
Hallie was a member of Mount Paran Baptist Church in Montebello and attended Crossroads Baptist Church in Fishersville. She was retired as an Assistant Manager with Peoples Finance Company and was a former member and treasurer of the Greenville Athletic Club.
In addition to her parents, Mrs. Hite was preceded in death by five brothers, Robert Franklin Shifflett, Jr., John Shifflett, Wesley Wes Shifflett, James Nook Shifflett and Maynard Shifflett.
Surviving is a sister and brother-in-law, Geraldine Geri Lowe and her husband Wayne of Staunton; a sister-in-law, Elaine Shifflett of Greenville; a brother-in-law, Dan Hite and his wife Dolly of Yorktown, VA and a special niece and nephew, Janet and Ron Shifflett. Also surviving are several other nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews and great-great nieces and nephews, and close special family Crannie and Robert Campbell, Christy and Corey Campbell and Tina, Ned, Allie and Emma Campbell.
The family would like to thank the Skilled Care Unit of Envoy of Staunton, the Hope Cancer Center and Augusta Health for their fine care given during her illness and her neighbors, Chip Yates, Don Moran and Dennis Hastert for their many acts of kindness.
The family will receive friends from 6 to 7:30 p.m. this evening in the Coffman Funeral Home and Crematory.
A graveside service will be conducted 2:00 p.m. Monday (November 16, 2009) in the Mount Paran Baptist Church Cemetery in Montebello by Pastor Bill Johnson and Pastor Billy Coffey.
