Grover W. Robertson
STAUNTON:
Grover William Robertson, 75, widower of Annie Constance (Thomas) Robertson of 1108 Skymont Road passed away Friday. July 20, 2012, at his residence.
Mr. Robertson was born in Augusta County on August 6, 1936, a son of the late Emmitt L. Robertson, Sr. and Elizabeth (Landram) Robertson.
Grover was a member of Olivet Presbyterian Church and the Willing Workers Sunday School Class. He was a veteran of the United States Marines and the National Guard. Grover was a 1955 graduate of Wilson Memorial High School, he was retired from American Safety Razor Company where he was employed as a machine tool builder with thirty-six years of service and he enjoyed hunting, fishing and the outdoors.
In addition to his parents and his loving wife Annie, Mr. Robertson was preceded in death by a son, Ronnie Rexrode; a grandson, Ricky Silling; a brother, Charles D. Robertson and three sisters, Mary Fitzgerald, Nancy Thompson and Sandy Golladay.
Survivors include a son, Mark Robertson and his wife Robin of Fishersville; five daughters, Linda Silling and her husband Ricky and
Rita Chirgwin both of Staunton, Melody Clifton and her husband Ray of Churchville, Lucinda Steward and Teresa Desper both of Staunton; a daughter-in-law Mary Rexrode of Churchville; a brother, Emmitt L. Robertson, Jr. and his wife Mary of Hartwood; two sisters, Isabelle Hudson and Joyce Zinkhan and her husband Ben both of Staunton; fifteen grandchildren; ten great grandchildren and a number of nieces and nephews also survive.
A celebration of Grovers life will be conducted 2:00 p.m. Saturday, July 28, 2012 in Olivet Presbyterian Church by Pastor Harry E. Johns, Jr.
Burial will follow in Thornrose Cemetery with military rites.
The family will receive friends today, (Sunday, July 22, 2012) at the residence.
At Mr. Robertsons request, there will be no public viewing.
Active pallbearers will be Allen Robertson, Gary Rexrode, Gene Ragland, Chris Ragland, Bernard Hogg, Bobby Chirgwin, Ricky Clifton, Ray Leach and Randy Leach.
