Gloria Belle (Balsley) Lester, 80, widow of Jackie Kenneth Lester, of Staunton, passed away on Saturday, November 18, 2023 at The Legacy of North Augusta.

Mrs. Lester was born in Staunton, Virginia on October 30, 1943, a daughter of the late Henry Elwood Balsley and Marjorie (Fielding) Balsley.

Gloria graduated from Wilson Memorial High School in 1961 and served briefly in the United States Air Force. She greatly enjoyed her time living in Germany. She loved listening to the Statler Brothers, Alan Jackson and watching Gone with the Wind. Mrs. Lester loved Christmas, was an avid reader, enjoyed going to bookstores and Cracker Barrel, doing needlepoint, and collecting dolls.

Surviving, are her six siblings, Philip Balsley, David Balsley (Pat), Marvin Balsley (Linda), Connie Doyle, Larry Balsley, and Alan Balsley; two step-children, Jacqueline Halfaday (David) and Nolan Dandy (Milena); three grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.

A memorial service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, November 25, 2023 in the Coffman Funeral Home Chapel by Pastor Lee Thomas. The family will receive friends an hour prior to the service.

A graveside service will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Monday, November 27, 2023 in Oaklawn Memory Gardens.

Coffman Funeral Home and Crematory, 230 Frontier Drive in Staunton is handling her arrangements.
